Aldo Malgardi
We first meet Aldo Gagliardi when he attends the funeral of Marco Bauslino a member of Il Club Sociale Italiano. As the club’s president he always made an appearance to show respect and to honour members who had passed away.
Aldo has alway’s been passionate about the club since he’s been a member for decades, and it’s president for the past twenty years. Lately he’s been finding it somewhat being thankless at times.
During his tenure; however, the club began a slow decline in membership. He’s worried about the declining membership and rising maintenance costs. Many club’s members blame Aldo for the club’s decline. They mutter that he’s been in the job too long, he’s set in his ways, and his health is starting to decline. Despite his friends and family suggesting it time for him to retire, he’s determined to carry on.
At the annual club meeting things change. He’s forced to announce the cancellation of the club’s Italian classes. He hadn’t wanted of a choice with declining enrolment and funding cutbacks by the Italian government.
For the first time in a long time was a serious contender for his job when Robert Madeo, a young lion put his name forward for the presidency. Win or lose Aldo is determined to save his beloved club.
