About the author
Francesco Rocca was born in Sambiase, Calabria. His family emigrated to Canada when he was a year old. He grew up in Sudbury, Ontario, and is currently living in Ottawa, the nation's capital.
While he has never been a member of an Italian Social Club, he has attended numerous weddings, funeral receptions, and festivals being held at various Italian social clubs.
He got the idea for the Il Club Social Italiano when he read an article reporting that an Italian social club was on the verge of closing and the paesani members were trying to save it.
He retired from the Canadian civil service to write full time. When he isn’t spending his time in dusty archives and libraries researching, he is on the golf course losing golf balls in a futile quest to lower his handicap.
He always had an interest in history, particularly Canadian history, which he finds fascinating and full of interesting characters.
